Rock - 2B2

In 1990 I founded a band to accompany me at the Houtstok Rock Festival. I found great musicians. We could only rehearse 4 times for an hour or so per rehearsal for a 30 minute slot. It was the first time the 2B2 members heard my original songs. We did really well and was one of the tightest on the day. Two of our songs were include din the Festival CD.

The original 2B2 outfit consisted of

• Brian Schwarz: drums
• Jacques Steyn: vocals, keyboards
• Deon Karstel: Bass
• Kay Brugge: Guitar

A Houtstok vinyl album and later a CD were released. Two of our numbers are included:

• In die middle van die nag
  (In the middle of the night)
• Die dood se snaar
  (The string of death)

After the festival there was a Houtstok Tour consisting of Anton Goosen's Kommisie van Ondersoek, Piet Botha's Jackhammer, and 2B2. We even had a jol in the village Clarens in the Maluti Mountains (Free State) with a marvelous turnout.

2B2 also did the club scene. Among other gigs, we shared a gig with the reggae outfit of Carlos Djedje:
