		In stereo systems the offset degree left or right from center

The pan attribute applies only to stereo systems and not to multi-directional systems (such as quadraphonic or more sound sources). For multi-directional systems use the azimuth and elevation attributes. These two attributes allow pinpointing a sound source in different dimensions -- both the horizontal as well as vertical directions.
