The sudrophone is a trumpet-like instrument similar to the ophicleide which is is a keyed bugle, and thus a type of horn. The lips' vibrations are thus the modifying resonators that result in the Bernoulli effect.
The pipe of the instrument is bent back over itself to make it more manoeverable. A silk membrane is included in the design to imitate the sound of a cello or a violin.

The sudrophone was invented by François Sudre (1844-1912) in Paris, and patented in 1892.
