suspicion

everywhere round every bend
in dingy corners, money spent
waiting for a better light
cunningly into the night
you reach out to hold me tight
  handcuffs shuffle in the fight
  suspicion

your hat drawn low above your eyes
your glasses tinted in disguise
you hide your weapon in your coat
you follow me down every moat
my name you wrote into your book
hidden from all eyes that look
  suspicion

your blaming eyes pierce right through me
and pile your guilt all over me
trusting eyes are shattered now
and pain is all we have somehow
you search my pockets all in vain
you always chase me through the rain
  suspicion
