Kerala Fishing: Quilon / Kollam Port (Kollam District)

The Marine Fisheries Census of Kerala (2010) lists Quilon Port as both fishing village and landing centre.

Kollam (or Quilon, formerly known as Desinganadu) is an ancient port 70km north of Thiruvananthapuram. It is one of the most important fishing centres in Kerala. Neendakara is its most important fishing village. Other important ones are: Cheriazheekkal, Alappad, Pandarathuruthu, Puthenthura, Thangasseri, Eravipuram and Paravur. There are plans to establish a more prominent fishing harbour at Neendakara.
